On Nov. 14th, about twenty WRW volunteers showed up Saturday morning at Islamic Center of Ann Arbor to sort donated items, pack them in boxes and then transfer them to "Welcome Home Refugee Store". This store will hold items for refugee families to be picked up by appointment only. MSS and WRW volunteers connect with families willing to donate and deliver them personally to refugee families. For large furniture items (dining table, chairs, bed, and sofas), a shipping container located on Ellsworth Rd. is used for pick up and delivery by appointment only. This weekend, December 10, Saturday, "Winter Respite Day" for foster Children event will take place at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4205 washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 from 11 am -3pm. Muslim Social Services, as a partner organization will be present with volunteers and donations to show our commitment to our faith through the care and love that we will put into this day. Children from 0-18 will be provided lunch, games, crafts, open gym, book giveaways and awesome live animal demonstration with staff from the Leslie Science Center while parents are free to shop / take a break. Are you interested to understand different stages of child development?
As parents or future parents, how biology of child development requires adjustment in parenting. Many different areas of development will be discussed including cognitive, psychological and social development. It's based on studies with scientific evidence. Please join us at Islamic Center of Ann Arbor. Lecture series will be on Saturdays 4-5PM, Islamic Center of Ann Arbor. The monthly series will start with MCA hosted community dinner on March 12, after Maghrib prayer(6:40 PM) followed by lecture on "Child development and Parenting" by Ahmad Zubair (after Isha, 8p.m.) Mark your calendar!
